Venture Partner at OpenOcean, Richard was the original London Bureau Chief and the creative power behind our delicious branding. Richard is now a Founding Partner at Fabric Ventures, a venture fund investing in decentralised data networks.
Richard previously built Firestartr – a seed investment firm behind Yoyo Wallet, Outlyer, Gojimo, Adbrain, and Urban Massage, among X other companies. He was also angel investor or advisor to companies including Citymapper, Fanatix, Acunu (Apple), Radiant Minds (Atlassian) and Pusher. As an entrepreneur, Richard has built and/or scaled Automic (CA Technologies), Tideway (BMC Software), and Orcehstream (Oracle) – reaching a cumulative market cap of $2.2bn. Last but not least – Richard survived the 90’s in Russia while establishing the Moscow office of Monitor Company.
A We Are Family Foundation governor, WEF Technology Pioneers, and 3/7ths of an Ironman™ triathlete, Richard is an Aussi at heart and holds an engineering degree from Cambridge.
Married to a Norwegian and father to two little viking girls, his superpower is to juggle nappies while sorting a board issue, running impossibly tight for his flight, and still making it on time to appear on stage somewhere. Probably in two places at a time.
